When you're doing everything right... but it still doesn't feel right.

You're a busy woman in your 40s or 50s. You care about your health. You eat well, you exercise, you're doing all the things to try and feel your best.

Yet by the end of the day, your energy is on the floor. Your brain is on over-drive, your body feels tired, and that glass of wine has become an end of day ritual - a way to switch off, unwind, take the edge off and mark the end of another busy day.

The next morning often tells a different story. You wake feeling less rested than you'd like. Maybe your sleep was broken. Maybe you were awake at 3am again. Maybe you're just tired of feeling tired.

You've invested in your wellbeing, and are trying to look after yourself as best you can. At this stage of life, you've probably started questioning a lot of things. The way you work. How you spend your time. The commitments you make. The habits you've carried for years. You're becoming more intentional about what supports your wellbeing and what no longer fits the woman you're becoming.

Somehow alcohol often remains the one thing we're taught not to question. Not because everything has fallen apart, or because you've hit rock bottom. But because you're beginning to wonder whether it still fits your life.

Until one day, you do. You've probably cut back before. Taken a break. Promised yourself you'll only drink at weekends. Yet if you're honest, the real question isn't whether you can drink less. It's whether alcohol is still giving you what you think it is. And if it isn't, what might be possible without it in your life?

I'm a certified Women's Health and Wellness Coach and Alcohol-Free Coach. I understand what alcohol is doing to your body, your hormones and your sleep in midlife and I can help you navigate it in a way that fits your life - not through willpower or white-knuckling it, but by understanding the habits and beliefs behind it, so the decision feels like an exciting choice rather than a reluctant sacrifice.

You know alcohol probably isn't helping - but a life without it sounds boring and a bit depressing.

You can't imagine your social life, your weekends, or your evening wind-downs without it.

I thought exactly the same thing until I discovered what was waiting on the other side. For over three decades, alcohol was a huge part of my life. It was how I relaxed, socialised, celebrated and had fun and I never ever questioned whether it was really serving me.

By my 40s things started to feel different. My sleep was more disrupted and energy inconsistent and had more of that tired but wired feeling I couldn't shake. Part of that was perimenopause, but what I didn't realise was how much alcohol was quietly adding to it.

The turning point came at 45, a night out in London with school friends. Cocktails, dinner, bubbles, more drinks. Followed by one of the worst hangovers I can remember.

It took another 18 months until, on a whim on my 47th birthday, I decided to try a few months without alcohol, just to see. It felt more like an experiment than a life changing decision, yet that turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Now I sleep deeply. I feel clearer. My skin glows. My face is less puffy. My energy is consistent, so much so that I exercise almost every day and have managed to run 3 marathons, something I never thought I'd be able to do, let alone in my late 40s.

I make better food choices and enjoy cooking real food. My body shape has changed, and for the first time since I can remember, I can say that I love my body. I feel calmer, more settled and finally more at home in my own skin, and my life feels more exciting and fuller than ever before!
